You must not have anything to eat or drink (including water) after midnight before the day of procedure.
There is to be no smoking at least 24 hours before surgery; it is ideal to discontinue for even longer. During this time before surgery, try to avoid exposure to environments where smoking is taking place.
A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive the patient safely home.
The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following any form of sedation or general anesthesia, or, if any dizziness or drowsiness occurs under any circumstances.
Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves which can be rolled up past the elbow. Shoes should be low-heeled and well-fitting so as not to allow the feet to slip out.
Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed at the time of surgery.
Do not wear lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the day of surgery.
If you have an illness such as a cold, sore throat, stomach or bowel upset, please notify the office at least by the day prior to the planned procedure.
If you take any prescribed medications, over the counter medications, homeopathic medications, herbs or supplements, please inform Dr. Minkin at your consultation. If there are changes to your medication regimen between your consultation and surgery appointments, please inform us. If possible, a written list would be very helpful and much appreciated.
